The Salicornia neei seedlings are produced at Espacio Verde Nursery through the multiplication of 2-node micro cuttings in plastic trays with a capacity of 128 plugs, which takes between 4 to 6 months. Subsequently, they are transferred to Nº 10 pots with saline soil to initiate their hardening off, and then to Nº 12 pots. Initially, they are watered with freshwater, gradually incorporating pig manure to increase salinity. This gradual hardening-off process is what allows the adaptation and success of the cultivation in its new environment, resulting in a loss of less than 10% of seedlings when transferred to the Biosaline Farm.
