We were visited by Doctors Anahí Formoso and Daniel Udrizar from IPEEC -Patagonian Institute for the Study of Continental Ecosystems- in Puerto Madryn.

They are studying the populations of Burrowing Owls that inhabit the Lower Valley of the Chubut River, to learn about their health status, their reproductive success, diet, their relationship with the activities carried out in the area and how they respond to environmental changes, among other aspects.

They monitor the nests with cameras and band the owls to track individuals over time, allowing researchers to determine their age, seasonal movements, displacements, and other characteristics. This is a long-term research project, and the collected data will enable them to study how the little owls coexist with human activities.

The little owls of RASA are already under monitoring, providing information to the research of the species that live in our region ♥️🦉
