The chosen design for cultivating Salicornia using treated final effluent as irrigation is within strips of native flora. This is how the cultivation is planned, in modules that are 10 meters wide and 50 meters long, with 5 meters of native flora left between each module. Since the units are enclosed to prevent local herbivores from consuming the vegetation, these strips of native vegetation will also be protected from the actions of primary consumers. Over time, we will be able to assess the evolution of these unaltered and herbivore-protected areas.
