We are testing the evolution of some plants resistant to irrigation with saline liquids. We have added chard and tamarisk specimens to the Biosaline Farm, obtaining very good results. Although 50% of the chard seedlings were lost due to consumption by some herbivore, the remaining units developed very well and have a pleasant and quite salty taste. More specimens will be planted this spring, and other species (asparagus and beetroot) will be added. Regarding the tamarisks irrigated with the treated liquids at RASA, they have developed exceptionally compared to those planted earlier and irrigated with fresh water brought from the Chubut River. This significant development is surely associated with the contribution of nutrients (soluble nitrogen and phosphorus) contained in RASA’s liquids.
